Nicki Minaj announces that her single "Anaconda" has gone platinum.
Many of 2014's biggest hits seem to tangentially related to hip-hop -- not quite full-blown RAP music -- but definitely in the same neighborhood. FollowingPharrell's "Happy" and Iggy Azalea & Charli XCX's "Fancy" into the platinum-selling singles arena is Nicki Minaj's "Anaconda," which just secured the coveted sales status.
Sharing the news on Instagram, Nicki wrote, "Just released on UK iTunes and is now certified #Platinum in America #Anaconda #PolowDaDon #DaInternz@bigjuice205 on the boards baby!!!!!! #ThePinkPrint 11.24.14"
With its fant-ass-tic music video already breaking records on VEVO, "Anaconda" seems to be succeeding on every front thus far -- now let's see if it catches on in the UK.
