Good thing the Lakers and Rockets aren't heading to Brazil for their preseason, or they could be a full scale riot in the arena. The popular '3 Goggles' 3-point celebration commonly used by guys like Nick Young and James Harden, has a totally different meaning in Brazil, and the Miami Heat and Cleveland Cavaliers have been warned not to use the gesture.
As part of the Global Games, the Cavs and Heat were exported to Rio de Janeiro- and the NBA gave the teams a memo of popular gestures that should be avoided while they're abroad. Among them, the use of '3 Goggles' which can be mistaken for 'F You.'
LeBron and the Cavs will square off against his former team in Brazil this Saturday, at 5:00 pm EST.
Per Cleveland.com;
Holding up the “three-sign” or the “three-goggles” in a certain way while in Brazil could be mistaken for “f— you” or “f— off,” I was informed.

The NBA sent the Cavs and Heat a memo with a list of questionable gestures that shouldn’t be used in Brazil, we’re told. The last thing anybody wants is for the stands to clear immediately after a player nails a 3-pointer.

James Jones, the Cavaliers’ 3-point marksman, says he was not made aware of the memo and knew nothing about the gesture being an insult in Brazil. […] “Hey, that’s why I just salute after I hit one,” James said. “That’s not offending anyone, right?
